Media3 at the European Blockchain Convention: A Journey into Blockchain Innovation
Heading to Barcelona for EBC
This summer, the Media3 team—me, Annet de Graaf, and Alfred Moesker—visited Barcelona for the European Blockchain Convention (EBC). For starters, it was our first on-site interview experience. Naturally, we faced a learning curve. However, we were excited to explore blockchain innovation firsthand on Media3.io.
From Cardano to the EVM World
We originally connected via the Cardano community. So, arriving at EBC’s Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) focus felt different. Nevertheless, we embraced it. In fact, it became a great chance to dive into new territory and grow.
Projects Beyond Blockchain Rivalries
At EBC, conversations impressed me. For once, people skipped blockchain debates. Instead, they focused on project goals and impact. For example, solving real problems mattered more than platforms—a refreshing change.
Connecting Projects to Pitch Point
Many projects sought funding. Consequently, we invited some to Pitch Point on Media3.io. This program helps projects pitch ideas. Plus, I’m excited to watch their progress unfold.
Blockchain Solving Real Issues
We also found inspiring initiatives. For instance, Doctors Without Borders discussed blockchain for humanitarian aid. Then, LAKE tokenized Swiss fresh water. These showed blockchain’s broader potential.
Overcoming On-Site Noise
Interviewing on-site had challenges. Initially, the podcast space was noisy. However, we moved to quieter spots like the courtyard. Despite hiccups, we adapted and enjoyed the laughs.
Redefining Media3’s Mission
Reflecting on EBC, we clarified Media3’s goals. Beyond tech, we’ll cover gaming, art, and policy. Moreover, this event deepened our EVM insights and shaped our 360-degree vision.
Looking Ahead After EBC
In conclusion, the European Blockchain Convention educated and inspired us. It highlighted projects and refined Media3’s path. Next time, though, we’ll pick a quieter spot on Media3.io!
